Finally, A Boat Ride!!

Ahh, Spring is really here. We went from cold, rainy, hailing weather to the next four days being in the 80's! It did seem pretty warm but we were loving it. We were able to get outside and get a lot of work done the last couple of weekends. Yard work, mowing, mulching. Fun!! It has continued to be busy this week. I had a lot of catch-up work to do in the house, Shea had a couple of play dates (and it's only Wednesday) and tonight we went to see our friends, the Gross' new baby boy.

One thing that happens pretty much every night at our house is the bed-time book reading. Shea and Will look forward to this each night. I was able to sneak in and take a photo the other day. Will just kicks his legs and laughs most of the time. Shea is usually asking him to be quiet! Chief and I take the opportunity to have a few moments of silence.

Good night!

One thing that was particularly thrilling this past weekend was putting the boat in the water for the first time in 2009!! It ran GREAT! Shawn was so happy. This was Will's first ride. I was a little nervous as to how well he would do. He can not stand wind in his face and usually fusses if it hits him. We took it slow at first but then the faster Daddy went, the more Will did his happy squeal. He didn't seem to mind the wind and not only was their wind from the boat moving but this was a particularly windy day. Hence the hair blowing around in the photo. I also took the opportunity to have a photo with the kids. You know, there is usually one parent in the family that is the "photographer" and that is usually me. Shawn was able to get a decent shot of us!

Will, Deetra and Shea

We took Chief along on Sunday. Normally he goes out on the final boat ride of the year when we run fuel stabilizer through the system. Last fall our lake was too low to get the boat in, so this did not happen. We haven't cleaned the boat up too well yet this Spring so we invited him to go. He did well. Until we hit this wave (remember, it's a real windy day) and water came in both sides of the boat in the back...where Chief was laying. You see folks, we have the only Yellow Lab around here who freaks out if water touches him. All the other labs just love living at the lake. He came up to sit beside his Mom and bury his face, life was better then.

Shea and Chief

We are excited for the weather to begin to stay warm. We need the lake water to warm up. Shea is anxious to swim. Shawn wants to get his wake board back out. I want to take my knee board out, it's been in a box for a year and a half!

Will on his first boat ride. Yea!!
