2011 is here and almost through the first month, Happy New Year! I've been a bit behind on blogging this year. Not sure why. I guess not much to report on. It's winter in Central Ohio and lately it has been cold. So cold that we all argue on who's venturing out to do the rabbits. The kids have been out to play in the snow a few times. Shawn has pulled out the Honda 50 to tow the sled and Shea and I loved that. It was dark, therefore no pics... sorry. Will told me he didn't like it and wasn't going to do it. Yep, he's my son. I conquered my apprehensions we will call them and I did it! It was fun.
The snow hasn't been great for building a big snow man. However, Shea did build this tiny one.
They thought it was fun to walk up the slight hill in the front yard and then run down it.
Come on Will, you can do it too!!
The kids have been going about their "normal" routines. Shea goes to school and Will stays with me while we play trains, monster trucks and watch the movie Cars. He's totally obsessed with it. TOTALLY. On New Year's Eve we were introduced to a Wii game called, Just Dance. The kids really liked it, Shea and I went to Target and bought our own copy. They ask to play it pretty much every night. It is good entertainment. I have to video it. Will just cracks us all up. He will come to me and say, "come on Mom, let's go shake our booties". It's even better when they get Shawn to dance... That really needs video taped!
Before the New Year, we did hit Zoo Lights on a mild, 32 degree, night. We lasted for two hours and seen a lot of the lights. We even saw the Polar Bears at night, neat!!! I had fun playing with my SLR at night.
The kids had an opportunity to go into Shawn's new office a couple of days before Christmas and have Breakfast with Santa. They were really excited. We also had a special treat. The Zoo brought in baby Cheetahs from The Wilds, a near by safari area that is now owned by the Columbus Zoo. The Cheetahs were a big hit!!
For Christmas, I received a new lens (55-200mm) from Paula and Wayne. Plus, a new speed light from Mom and Dad. I was like a 6 year old with excitement. I want the weather to warm up a bit to go out and walk and take nature shots. I will get it done! In the mean time, here are a couple I thought you may like seeing. Shea's up close portrait.
Now for this one... A few years ago someone started what has become a tradition when we exchange gifts with my side of the family. The day after Christmas we all get together for one last celebration. It's always a mystery as to when this "gift" will appear. No one can ever remember who was the recipient from the previous year. This year, Shawn was the recipient and I laughed so hard I thought I was going to pee.
Yep- Those are big 'ol granny panties. Complete with lace! He loved it, can't you tell??! To be fair, he did get a Lowe's gift card with it. I have these tucked away in a safe place for Shawn to pass along to another happy recipient next year.
That's better, he needed a beer after that gift!
We hope you are enjoying this winter season. I have a count down until the first day of Spring going. Thanks to my Dad mentioning this, Will won't stop talking about getting the boat out. Poor kid has to wait a few months and he isn't understanding that fact. Until then we'll sit by the fire and watch the Super Bowl. Shea is starting to get excited about planning her birthday party. So am I, nicer weather may be here then! For those of you following the NCAA Men's basketball.... GO BUCKS!
