OSU Homecoming

Last week was Homecoming Week at Ohio State, my Alma mater! Normally I look forward to this every year due to the fact my friend Gabe comes back to "Old Columbus Town". He and his wife, Jenny, did so again this year. We had a surprise twist to the events last weekend. On Friday, Shawn emailed me that he knew of a pair of tickets for sale and the seats were pretty good. They were even asking face value... I guess thanks in large part to the loss at Purdue. Anyway, back to the story. He asks me if I want to take my Dad to the game as a birthday present to him, his birthday is in a couple of weeks. Great idea!! You see, Dad never gives you ideas. He just wants to go to dinner. That's fine and all but come on here.

We get the tickets and Dad and I head to the game! Hip Hip Hooray!! He and I had not been to a game, just the two of us, since my college days. Hum...a few years ago. We get up bright an early for the Noon kick-off. First we start at the Waffle House. He knows that I will oblige with this request much easier than my Mother. I have to say, it wasn't a bad meal. Off to tailgate!!

We went to the Franky N Jay tailgate on Capmus. It was SO MUCH FUN. I get to get together with a few old friends from college. My Dad had a great time chatting with everyone. However, can you believe the following words came out of my Dad's mouth... "It's too early in the morning to drink beer"! Keep in mind, it was 9:30 AM but hey, it's tailgating!! Another small world event happened. My neighbor, Jodi, was at the same tailgate as us. Go figure!!

Preparing for the kick-off!

Here is a photo that I just love! It's Dad and I. I hope that he really enjoyed his game day experience. After the game, we stopped by to see Brett and Brenda at their tailgate. Eat dinner at Red Robin and then came back to our house to get warm and watch more football. I had a GREAT time. Happy Birthday Dad!! A shout out to Shawn for thinking of this idea and taking the kids for the entire day.
