It's a bird... No! It's a plane... No. It's a... CADILLAC!!!! WAHOO. The kids and I's new ride is all done and it is sweet! If you recall, way back in June, Shawn and I drove up to Michigan and towed home a 2004 Cadillac SRX that needed "some work" but we got a heck of a good deal. Indeed it need a few things. First off, we knew something was wrong with the engine. Shawn tore it apart and sure enough, the motor was blown. My super smart hubby figured out that the converters had went back and thus blowing up the engine. Ug, two things to fix. Luckily with some research we discovered that GM has a recall out for the converters, knowing they can go bad. Ho ray, we can get those replace at no charge to us. Whew... No back to finding a new motor. I'm not sure you will believe this. We found one, out of CA, that only had 4,750 miles on it. YEP, you read that correctly. We're not sure it even had it's first oil change. It took five weeks for it to arrive here in OH. Shawn figured while the engine & transmission were out he'd make sure nothing else needed replaced. May as well since it's all out. We had to wait on a few parts which met she sat in the garage, immobile, for a few more weeks.
Finally, everything is here, on the new engine and Shawn was ready to install it. He gets it all back in, we bleed the brakes. Time to fire it up. Hold your breath...firing it up. It starts! Ah good. All the sensors are back on-line. We go to move it out of the garage... It doesn't move. Arg. After being towed to the dealership to get the recall work done, towing it back home, taking the transmission out to be worked on. She is back to sitting immobile. She sure is pretty in the garage. We waited another four weeks on the tranny to come back to us. See the trend in it being hard to get parts easily.
This past Saturday was time to re-install it. Shawn and our friend, Jesse, put it back in. It was also in record time! As the Buckeye's began to play it was time to fire her up again. She starts...AND MOVES! Success!!! We are all beyond thrilled. We all took turns taking it out for test drives. I'm not sure Shawn wanted to get into the Saturn today to go to work. The Caddy is a nice ride. Luxury at it's finest. Even Shea commented on how much she likes the back seat area. She is thrilled that I will be picking her and Kendall up from school today in it. Hum... Spoiling her already? Na, it's a very safe ride and we are loving it! Here she is...
I haven't named her yet, she is beautiful. Don't you think?

The kids wanted in a shot.

Of course Shawn had to take a picture too, he did do all that hard work!

Thank you my dear sweet husband. For the months of waiting, working, re-working to give us the finest SUV. I can't tell you how much I already love her. Road trips here we come!
