After we ate it was time to get dressed. We had laid out her dress, shoes and under garments the night before. She primped in the mirror and brushed her teeth. Daddy was ready to at this time so I had to get out of my "pj" attire. It was a beautiful morning outside so we took pictures in the garden. This one turned out so well...
When Shawn and I went to bed last night we couldn't believe we were going to wake up and have a pre-schooler. Where oh where have four years gone? It seems like yesterday that I was pregnant with her and about to pop...not her going off to school and anticipating boy-boy. But, life goes by fast and this is yet another reason to live each day to the fullest. Off to school we go and as I look in the rear-view mirror I see a line of traffic and we're all headed to the same place. Shawn drove separately so he could head to work from school.
Arrival at St. Pat's
When we pulled into the parking lot I didn't even have the car in park and Shea had taken off her seat belt and said to me in a "Mom" tone, "Now Mom, you know that I love you and I'll see you after school". I smiled as my heart melted and my eyes filled with tears and I said, "Yes Shea, and I love you too". She held Shawn and my hands as we walked up and I think it was hard for Shawn and I and not her! There was a line to get your photo taken in front of the sign. We had a brief wait and then it was time to go in the door. There were already a couple of friends there she knew. Right away she found her hook with her name and put her book bag on it. Then Ms. Nicki asked the kids to explore the room and she talked to us parents...as we all stood around watching the kids with the same looks on our faces. What do we do now?
After a few minutes I said to Shawn we better go. He walked over and said bye to her and she said give Mom a kiss too. I informed her I was right here! I kissed her and out the door we went. For the record, I made it to the car before I really cried! Shawn said he was impressed with how well I did!
When I went back to pick her up she had her back pack on and was standing there with their project they made. I asked her if she liked it and she smiled real big and said yes! Her teacher said things went well and she was a joy. As they handed you a bag of candy bars to sell. Welcome to pre-school...now sell these and Mums! No fear, Shea has been calling her family and thus far everyone is eager to help her out. She said she can't wait to go back on Friday. We are so glad!

Well grandpa and I are still laughing that when we called Shea tonight to see how her first day at preschool went, the first words out of her mouth were do you want to buy a candy bar or a mum? And then after ordering one of each of the colors of the mums she said, "and what about the candy bar?" Oh my gosh what a saleswoman! I guess she learned something at preschool! So glad she did well and that mommy and daddy survived the first day as well. Gma and Gpa H.
