A Labor of Fun

Wow, can you believe Labor Day weekend has come and gone...already??!! We had a good weekend and just enjoyed being here at the lake. Friday night Shawn was suppose to get home early, but he missed his afternoon flight out of TX. Poor guy had to run all over the airport numerous times. When it looked like he wasn't going to be confirmed on a flight to Columbus, OH that night, I said to him "GET TO OHIO"! He did! He called me out of breath and his phone dying to say he'd be coming into Dayton and gave me the flight number. That was the extent of our conversation. Later that night it started pouring down rain here and I wasn't feeling well that night. I called Jenny to see if she'd ride with me to get him, just in case any labor started. Barry (AKA my rent-a-husband when Shawn is out of town) over-road my decision and said he was going to get Shawn. I felt bad that he was going to go get him but relieved to not have to go out. Shawn's flight came in late due to storms in Texas and had a very rough landing. Finally, he got here around 11:30 pm. We were all happy to see him.

Saturday, we all slept in and I got to enjoy some "me time" while Shawn and Shea headed to Home Depot. Chief was not happy he had to stay home with Mom. But, the best part of the day was that I got to see the Buckeye's season opener, since Time Warner finally reached an agreement with the Big Ten Network. I was in heaven, feet up, snack and the Buckeye's in HD! Jen & Barry came over to watch it with me until the rest of the Huntington's came home. Ah, fall is in the air now that my favorite sport is back in action. Go Bucks! Another great joy of this day for me was seeing that Michigan once again lost their season opener. At least this year the team was a little more respectable. We ended our evening making smores at the Kuck's and we all enjoyed that tasty treat.

On Sunday, Shea made a discovery that she was over the moon about. A cocoon! She carried this around until we convinced her to put it in her bug house and we'd wait to see if it were a moth or a butterfly that hatches. She is just so anxious she keeps asking me when it will hatch. Like I know?! So, I keep telling her in a day or two- man I hope I'm correct.

Our newest "pet"

Shawn began to make the doors for the shed while Shea played and I did what most miserable 9 month pregnant women do....supervise! Although, Shawn out did himself and I loved the first door that he made. It was time to wrap that up and head up to the beach area for the annual Pig Roast. The kids all had a blast running and playing. They are to the age where we adults can just keep an eye on them and have an actual conversation. The band wasn't anything to brag about but we sure enjoyed all the good company and great food we all brought!!

Labor Day we woke up and decided we'd go up to the beach and check out the Ski Show. Shea loved this idea, she could play in the water! It was a warm day, I thought it was really hot at 10 am but evidently I was the only one. After lunch Shawn finished the doors and hung them up. They look SO good!! He had to do some filing and trimming on them, remember we are remodeling the shed so it's not built to his quality and he has to work with what is there. He just has to install the handles and bolts that will lock each door at the top and bottom. I told him his second career is waiting on him!
Shea enjoys the Labor Day Show

Love these doors!!

We hope that you enjoyed your long weekend. The weather is still hot here so summer isn't going away too fast and I'm fine with that. Tomorrow is a big day, Shea starts pre-school so everyone cross their fingers this goes well. She is ultra excited tonight!!
