A Saturday Night in Waikiki

After we left Pearl Harbor, we decided to head down the road to Waikiki.  It is one of the most famous beaches in the world!  Traffic was horrible and it was a Saturday night.  Not rush hour.  Oh boy, I didn't like this...  But, the views along the way were nice to look at.  I tried to pronounce road names as we went along.  Didn't do so hot on that!  Neither did the Garmin lady, for the record!  We finally arrived to a parking spot at the Honolulu Zoo.  Yep, a Zoo within walking distance to the beach.  Interesting concept I thought.  After we walked around the corner we came to this interesting looking thing.  We stopped and stared at it.  Later we found out that it is a Banyan tree which originates in the Orient.  Neat tree, which would make a wonderful play ground for the kids!

Look how big it is with Shawn standing next to it.

Off we went to explore Waikiki.  It is a wonderful place!  The beach is clean and has exquisite views.  Surfers- you don't see those in Ohio!!  They have lots of up-scale shopping which was fun to look through.  It reminded me of taking Michigan Ave in Chicago and throwing it on a beach in Waikiki.  Loved it!

You can be walking down the street and look down and you see mountains!  What a view.  Beach to your right, mountains to your left.  Ah, how I miss you!!!  You would also be walking along and come upon these beautiful gardens.  I loved them.

As we were walking along, the sun began to set.  Here is Shawn walking out on this wall.  It was so nice!!

A boat out for an evening dinner cruise.

Finally the sun is setting.  What a sight.  This photo doesn't even do it justice!

Up next, waking up on Sunday to our view and our adventures of the day!
