We have a new addition to the family! On January 12, 2010 our newest Niece was born. Nola Terin Miley. She was born at 9:11 A.M. She weighed 7 lbs 9 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. Last night we looked up Will's birth weight. It too was 7 lbs 9 oz, I had thought he was smaller. Maybe it's the weight he lost. Anyway, back to Nola! She is a cutie! We went to meet her on January 16th. Nola has a lot of dark, thick hair. She likes to snuggle, not a problem we were willing to oblige.

Here we are introducing our selves to her. We were impressed that Will wasn't overly jealous.

Shea was more than thrilled to hold the baby. She woke up the day after meeting Nola and says to us, "My hands really need to hold the baby again". We got a good laugh out of that!
Here are the Huntington cousins. Nevan, Shea, Nola & Will. Cute bunch.

Back to some good news! Shea received her second term report card today. All S's again!! This time there were 15! They were tested on more items this past nine weeks. Her teacher is telling me she is doing very well. We are VERY proud of her. She has earned a new Leapster game from us. She called her Grandparents to let them know about her good grades.... Wonder what she'll get?
After meeting Nola we headed to see my Grandma Pat. She had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor the same day that the baby was born. In fact, they were both at the same hospital. Shawn and I were pleasantly surprised to see how well she was doing. Grandma continues to recover well and goes to see the surgeon tomorrow. We are hoping that no chemo will be necessary. Keep your fingers crossed!
The following day, January 17th was the one year anniversary of my Grandfather, Joe, passing away. We kept our selves busy by laying more flooring in our bedroom. I guess since I miss him every single day, it didn't make that particular day too much harder for me. The night before my Aunts, parents and cousins had gathered for dinner and that was nice to be together.
Our week takes a turn... It is Monday, January 18th, MLK day. Shea is off of school so I was thinking of fun things we could do. That seemed to change quickly when I got a phone call from Shawn. His Grandfather, Bob, had passed away. Another hard day. Shawn and I both know that with the age and health status of our Grandparents a call like this can come at any time. It does not make it any easier to comprehend or accept. Shawn was very close to his Grandparents. We attended his funeral on Wednesday. It was a short but very nice Military service. We took Shea out of school so she could attend and she was a very big girl. We were proud of her. Shawn is doing well in dealing with the passing of his Grandpa. Yesterday (Jan. 24th) would have been Bob's 85th birthday. We had a drink and toasted to him. Shawn received a treasure box and currently it has a beautiful flower arrangement in it. When the flowers are done blooming he can make this into a memory box. Shea has been very eager to think of items to place in the box. She wants to put pictures, a bell and we suggested the shells from the gun salute at the funeral, she agreed they should go in there too. We'll have to wait and see what memorabilia Shawn wants to put in there. There are just too many memories for him, the box would over flow. I'm sure.

That is the updates from here. Sorry it has taken me so long to update my blog and the length of this post. As January comes to a close, may February bring more sunny rays!
