4th of July Palouse Bike Parade

Go Shea!

Shea and Alexis

Happy 4th of July!!!!

This morning we woke up to cool temperatures but the rain had not arrived yet. The kids were hopeful they'd get their annual bike parade in. Down by our common mailbox area there is a road called Palouse and it is a dead-end road. Lots of kids reside on this street. Every 4th of July at 11 am they decorate their bikes and have a parade. Shea has been invited down the last couple of years and she was really looking forward to it. Yesterday evening after the rain stopped we washed her bike all up and decorated it. At 10:50am this morning the parents were all calling each other. The kids wanted to proceed with the parade and it was only drizzling at the time. We all met up at the mailboxes and wouldn't you know- it started to rain at that moment! The kids didn't seem to mind and we parents were all under umbrella's so off the kids went, riding down Palouse. The rain started to come harder so they only went down the street once and they were all ready to be done. We lined them up according to height the best we could and took a photo. Athena Powell was the youngest participant this year, at the age of 1. Next year we'll have three babies to add to the parade. Due to all the rain, me holding an umbrella and trying to take pictures I did not get a good shot of all of the decorations on Shea's bike.

We came home to find Shawn still working on the shed- in the pouring down rain! Poor guy. We got him a dry shirt and I found one of our old rain coats that he put on. He was sheeting the side of the roof he tore off the other night. Currently, he's out there nailing it down and then I think I have him talked into to coming inside- there's lots we can work on in here!

We are hopeful that the rain will end this evening and the party at our neighbors will go on and so will the fireworks. If not, we'll do it all tomorrow. We did watch Columbus' fireworks on TV last night. They are called Red, White & Boom and they were good! I hope we get to see some live this year! Keep your fingers crossed. We hope that everyone is enjoying their Holiday, safely and happily. Happy Birthday America!

All the kids lined up

Happy 4th of July to you too. It has rained hard here most of the day and is cool. Shea your bike looked great, and what a nice bike parade it looks like you had. I hope you are able to get all the activities in and that Shawn has dried out. Mom/Gma H.
